As fall made it’s way into Chicago, Touch Gift Foundation along with Big Mouf’Bo, hosted a grocery giveaway on 79th and Champlain called “Lov’N the Streets”. For two hours people lined up and received a hot meal prepared by Taste for the Homeless, and left with bags of groceries, blankets, socks, and a lot of other resources. It was an amazing event on a perfect day on Chicago’s South Side. This is yet another stop by Touch Gift Foundation and Big Mouf’Bo with an attempt to provide resources, food, and positive energy in Chicago’s poverty infested neighborhoods. People of all ages came out and accepted these resources and this is far from the last time that an event like this will reach Chicago’s streets.
Touch Gift Foundation has been hosting grocery giveaways, toy drives, back to school events, and more throughout Chicago for almost 10 years. Their mission is to break the cycle of poverty by eliminating the poverty mindset. They have been committed to empowering individuals, providing resources and transforming lives. Their goal is to equip people with tools, knowledge, and support they need to have positive and sustainable transformations.
I have personally worked with Touch Gift Foundation in the past and it is amazing to see the smile on people’s faces, the love they desperately need, and the relief they feel when coming out to a Touch Gift Foundation giveaway.
Chicago resident, Vanessa Jones, is just one of the people who has benefited from this event. “It’s able to give me a little wiggle room if I don’t have money,” she said. “I don’t have to grab a second job to provide for my kids.”
Touch Gift Foundation Founder Keona Owens, and Artist Big Mouf’Bo were pleased with the outcome of the event. “We want to say thank you to all of our vendors, all of our volunteers, and everyone who came out.”
