Trump Found Guilty

Donald Trump was recently found guilty on 34 counts.

For the first time in American history, a former president has been convicted of a felony.

On Thursday, a New York jury found Donald Trump guilty of a whopping 34 charges. These charges were of him falsifying business records. Trump paid off his former attorney, Michael Cohen, to give money to an adult film star, Stormy Daniels, to keep quiet about an affair Trump had with her before the 2016 election.

Daniels’ attorney, Clark Brewster, told CNN she was “really emotional” following Thursday’s conviction of Trump.

Alana Evans, Daniels’ friend, called it a “joyous day”.

Trump’s sentencing will be on July 11th, at 9AM CT. You’ll still have to hear the former president angrily tweet about it until then, since he won’t have to serve any jail time in the meantime. However, he is facing the possibility of prison time – up to four years for each conviction, but nothing will be decided until that date.

Trump’s legal team is currently trying to appeal the guilty verdict, which means that they’ll try to find some sort of mistake in the sentencing, so that they can get it “dismissed”. Trump’s attorney, Todd Blanche, told CNN that if they can’t manage to do it before the sentencing in July, they’ll try to do it afterwards, too.

Believe it or not, Trump can still run for president in the 2024 election, even though he’s a convicted criminal now. The constitution only says that you have to be 35 years old, born in the U.S., and lived here for 14 years.

This “hush money” charge is still only one of four federal charges that Trump is facing. One charge covers Trump stealing classified documents from the White House, while two others are about him attempting to interfere with the 2020 election results. As of right now, Trump has only been found guilty of the hush money conviction.

Stay tuned to find out how the rest of the Trump drama pans out.
