I already told y’all a minute ago to stay away from those e-cigarettes. You would think the chance of becoming addicted and having lungs that suck at being lungs would be enough to deter people from jumping the gun and trying vaping, but I guess some people never learn. So to add on to the already long list of reasons to stay away from e-cigs, now there are reports of people who use them suffering from seizures. Yes, seizures!
According to the Food and Drug Administration, there have been at least 35 people who have used e-cigarettes that reported having seizures in the last 10 years. Now that may not sound like a lot, but those numbers can keep increasing at an alarming rate because of the large numbers of teens and young adults taking up juuling. Federal data has shown that from 2017 to 2018 the usage of e-cigarettes was up by 48 percent among middle school students and an even more alarming 78 percent among high school students. Because the bodies of young people aren’t fully developed yet, they are especially at risk of suffering from complications due to this unhealthy habit.
There isn’t much evidence that supports the fact that e-cigarettes have caused the seizures in those 35 people, but there’s a high probability that the e-cigarettes were the cause as a possible side effect of nicotine poisoning. Don’t think just trying it one time rules you out from this either. Out of the reported seizures, some were regular users while others were first time users. You know how you can avoid all this? By just not juuling at all. Actually, Governor J.B. Pritzker has just made it a little easier for your not to use. According to WGN, Pritzker recently signed a measure into law that prevents anyone under the age of 21 from buying tobacco products in the state. The law goes into effect on July 1st.
I’ll say it again. Stay away from that juuling, especially if your a young person with a body that’s still developing. A little enjoyment isn’t worth your health.
