For those of you who may not know, Lupita Nyong’o stepped on the movie scene recently in her role as Patsey in Steve McQueens’ 12 Years A Slave and before 12 Years A Slave she starred in MTV’s TV series, aired in 2009, Shuga. As a fairly new actress, she has definitely made her mark in the industry and the fashion world.
She has been killing the Red Carpet scene by gracing us with her presence in Prada, Stella McCartney, Michael Kors, Giambattista Valli, and a whole list of other top notch designers. And while she has made so many appearances in such timeless pieces, everyone has been holding their breath to see what she would wear at The Oscars. When asked what she would wear and had she thought about it, she mentioned she had tried on hundreds of gowns. But the one that made the cut was a powder blue Grecian gown custom made by Prada. Nyong’o stated, “The blue reminded me of Nairobi”.
As she walked, twirled and played with her dress on the red carpet, you could tell that she felt good and knew she looked good. She was styled to a “T” from her nails to her hair and her dress, but she didn’t make that happen alone she had the help of her team. Michaela Erlanger, her designer, Nick Barose, her make up artist, Larry Sims, her hairstylist, and Deborah Lippman, her manicurist. Thanks to her glam squad she continues to blow us away.
Not only did she look amazing, our Kenyan beauty won Best Supporting Actress in 12 Years A Slave at The Oscars this year.
Congratulations Lupita!
We Love You!!
