Will The 'Color Purple' Musical be A Must-See?

Fantasia reprises her 2016 Broadway role as Celie in the 2023 remake of “The Color Purple.”

The “Color Purple” has a musical remake coming to a theater near you soon!

The remake is produced by Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg, the producers of the original film as well.

Scheduled to be released in North America on December 25, 2023, and internationally on January 18, 2024, this musical remake’s main focus is the experience that Black girls who were turning into women had to go through during the early 1900s.

Stars featured in the film include Fantasia, Taraji P. Henson, H.E.R., Danielle Brooks, Ciara, Halle Bailey and more.

Halle Bailey takes on the role of young Nettie in the movie.

This trailer was released just days before the premiere of Bailey’s new movie “The Little Mermaid,” which is expected to be a summer hit. The singer/actress is really beginning to make a name for herself on the silver screen.
