TAJ 4D For today’s Throwback Thursday, I will be taking you to the magical land of sugar, spice and everything nice…The Powerpuff Girls!
The Powerpuff Girls, which originally aired on Cartoon Network from 1998 to 2005, told the story of three little girls who were created when Professor Utonium, who was working on the recipe for the perfect little girl, added an extra ingredient, Chemical X, to his concoction. According to the theme of the show, because of that mistake, “the Powerpuff girls were born! Using their ultra super powers, Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup have dedicated their lives to fighting crime and the forces of evil! ”
Even though the girls were super heroes, the show still had them dealing with real problems that kindergarteners faced like making friends with the kid who eats glue (Buttercup), having to wear glasses (Bubbles) and having a funny haircut (Blossom).
Other characters on the show consisted of the Mayor of Townsville who was obsessed with pickles, Ms. Keane, who was the girls’ kindergarten teacher and Ms. Bellum who held a bit of mystery because no one beyond the fourth wall (us the viewers) could ever see her face. Villans consisted of The Amoeba Boys, Mojo Jojo, Him, Princess and many more.
