BREAKING: WNBA Teams Set to Make Official Video Game Debut with NBA Live 18

“NBA LIVE introduces the sharp-shooting, rim-rattling action of the WNBA. Take your favorite teams and stars into Head-to-Head mode for this unprecedented basketball game first.” EA Sports

Hey gamers, get ready to #WatchHerWork, because on August 3, 2017, Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) announced that WNBA teams and players will be playable in NBA LIVE 18, which is set to launch this fall.

According to the WNBA’s Official Statement:

The WNBA will be available in WNBA Play Now, and teams and player skills have been specifically balanced to reflect the unique playstyle of the league and skills of its players. This is the first time the official WNBA’s roster of teams and players will appear in a video game, and will be available only in NBA LIVE 18. (Check out the WNBA’s full statement here.)

ABOUT TIME! But in this age of double standards and misogyny, better late than never. (I guess.) Nonetheless, this is such a dope and much needed move by NBA Live, and I really hope to see other companies and games follow. Before the Wii, my last gaming system was a Sega Dreamcast; now I just might have to grab a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, just so I can be ready for the game’s worldwide release this September.

So far, I’ve seen some pretty spot on screen shots of Cappie Pondexter, Maya Moore, Brittney Griner, Diana Taurasi, Elena Delle Donne, and Jewell Loyd. What do you think? Also, what teams and stars are you excited to hoop with? You already know that I’m itching to play with Cappie Pondexter and my Chicago Sky — but with my Morgan Park gear on, of course, for the culture! (Love you Cap!)
