Novocaine Is Definitely Worth The Ticket

I recently got a chance to check out Novocaine before it hits theatres, and I had loads of fun watching it. On Friday, March 14th, do yourself a favor and go see this action packed joyride of a movie starring Jack Quaid.

Quaid plays Nathan Caine, a man who canโ€™t feel pain, who is on a mission to save the love of his life. The movie is super down to earth and you start rooting for Quaidโ€™s character after seeing him help out a man in need in his first scene.

Quaid is probably a familiar face because of his work in โ€œThe Boysโ€ and the 2022 Scream movie. In those performances, specifically โ€œThe Boys,โ€ he can be seen playing an awkward white guy being plopped into high action stakes. He brings that same energy to Novocaine.

It wouldโ€™ve been nice to see him in a fresh light, but the performance still added immense value to the watching experience. The awkward angle worked out in multiple ways for the stories, and made Nathan feel relatable. His awkwardness allows the love story to shine and it makes the action scenes more creative. I do want to see Quaid be more assertive in future projects, but after seeing him overcome the events in this movie, Quaidโ€™s cool leading man factor outweighed his awkwardness factor by the end.

It was a pleasure to see him as a leading man, as audiences canโ€™t help but to have a good time when heโ€™s on screen. Quaid portrayed a very likeable character and did a great job of dancing with the line between brave and terrified.

The acting in general was great. It felt like every actor was having fun playing their character and it really came across on screen. Everybody felt comfortable leading to a really funny action comedy. The action scenes were very creative due to the interesting premise around Nathan not feeling pain. The character isnโ€™t the best at combat but he managed to hold his own time and time again.

The movie feels really balanced because one minute weโ€™ll be in an intense action scene and then the next weโ€™re cracking up. They managed to make funny fight scenes that were really exciting to watch. The story is paced really well, meaning every scene is engaging and pushes the story forward. The movie flows really well, making it feel like a roller-coaster ride once the plot kicks off.

True Star crew members Sullivan Anderson, Kennedye Harris, Odie Payne, and Gary Langfield Jr. and movie goer Deverin Deonte pose for a pic at the premiere of Novocaine in downtown Chicago.

This is a really good choice for a group trip to the movies with your friends. You could enjoy it alone but it thrives off of laughing with your buddies next to you. Go check it out this weekend and have a blast like I did.
