In this exciting third season of “From The ‘Go Show,” Briana Clearly graces the stage to talk about the filmmaking ecosystem she’s created through Filmmaker’s Mixtape, a cohort that creates 12 films in 12 months.
Clearly is a mentor that helps filmmakers practice their craft by challenging them to constantly be creative and bring projects to life. Before the Filmmaker’s Mixtape was a cohort that helped artists, it was a personal project for Clearly that she achieved in 2020, making her a leader that’s leading by example.
Clearly sat down with hosts, Gary Langfield Jr. and Iesha Brown, and had conversations centered around the impact she has had on independent filmmakers. An impact that runs deep through the city of Chicago.
“Not only am I impacting them, I’m impacting everyone they decide to work with… so there’s this trickle effect that happens throughout the city,” Clearly says.
Filmmaking is the most collaborative art form there is, so if you pour into a filmmaker, then you pour into an entire community of people helping bring an idea to life.
“With filmmaking we feel like it’s so precious that we do so much ideating and we do so much studying we’re not making as much as we should,” says Clearly. “Filmmaker’s mixtape is really about removing those self-imposed barriers to just make.”
Join the conversation and tune into this episode of “From The ‘Go Show” as we dive into the nitty gritty of independent filmmaking where topics of collaboration, community and accessibility are flying at you in full force.
