‘Captain America’ Is Doing Great Things for The MCU

Anthony Mackie is Sam Wilson, the new Captain America: Brave New World.

I got the opportunity to get an early look at Captain America: Brave New World and I was very impressed. I’ve been trying to get people in theatres for this movie because people aren’t exactly hype for the movie, but take my word for it, the movie deserves your time and respect.

After Avengers: Endgame, the MCU has been pretty mid and that’s no secret, but this movie truly stands out. This is the first time we see Anthony Mackie as a leading man and his performance is not only grounded but extremely entertaining.

Seeing Mackie pick up the shield as the new Captain America, after experiencing Chris Evans as this character, is a tough pill to swallow for MCU fans. The movie knows this and does an amazing job developing Sam Wilson’s character, who’s coming to grips with his new role as Captain America with no Super Soldier Serum.

A big rumor I’ve been hearing is that Sam Wilson is going to be a weaker version of Captain America, but the movie makes Sam look remarkably capable. The action in this movie is simply amazing. Sam really makes the shield his own as he uses it in very unique ways on top of the ways that we’re accustomed to. We all know that Sam Wilson isn’t Steve Rogers, but I love the movie for proving that he doesn’t need to be.

The marketing did an amazing job getting me excited without telling me the entire plot, and I really appreciated that. The storytelling is some of the best in the entire MCU because it gave us a really good narrative that unfolded in a really satisfying way.

Without giving too much away, Captain America is a grounded political action story that feels refreshing for the MCU. The story involves Sam keeping the peace on a global scale after the discovery of a very well known element in Marvel. He must discover the reason behind a wicked international plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.

Fans honestly don’t expect much out of Sam Wilson’s Captain America, but going and watching it will leave you impressed. The movie is really cool and  succeeded with what it was trying to do.

It did wonders for Sam Wilson’s character, and did an amazing job laying the groundwork for future good MCU movies. It’s an amazing Black led superhero movie that did a lot of really great things in my opinion.

I think the movie is going to surprise a lot of people, so please give it the benefit of the doubt and check it out. It releases in theatres on February 14th and I will be buying a ticket on opening day. I know I’ve already seen it, but I gotta go see it again.
