New Covid Testing Kit the Best of the Best

A home testing kit a day keeps the doctor’s exam away.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently approved an at-home Coronavirus test kit that can tell you if you have Covid-19 or just the flu. Why is this better than the testing kits we have now, you ask? Well, the biotech company that made it, Lucira Health, tested it in a lab, and it caught ninety percent of positive cases, with a one hundred percent accuracy rate on negative Covid results.

That means if you’re experiencing Corona symptoms, there’s a good chance you can find out if you have the virus from the comfort of your own home, rather than have to go to the doctor for results.

Of course, an exam done with lab equipment will always be more accurate than a testing kit at home, according to CNN. They’ll be able to collect more samples from you in the lab than you doing it by yourself, therefore making the chances of finding out if you have Covid or not all the more accurate.

Whatever you choose to do, it doesn’t hurt to go and get tested if you start experiencing symptoms. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, there’s over 226,000 new Coronavirus cases a week, with over 2,000 weekly deaths.

It’s easier more than ever to get tested, this new kit proving it. Kits are only getting more accurate, and easier to obtain. Anyone over 14 can go and get it themselves, and with just one nasal swab, have the results ready in about 30 minutes. Your little siblings age 2 and older can use them too, they just have to have someone older get the kits for them.

Maybe life will never be like it was before the pandemic, but you can help try and reach that goal by getting tested and stopping the spread of Covid-19.
