Will Biden Bow Out?

Will President Joe Biden step down as the Democratic nominee?

Everyone in America has been laser focused on the actions of President Biden and Former President Donald Trump. The vast majority of voters come from the youth, a demographic that scares politicians due to their newfound resilience and attentiveness to the media. Despite this, it can often work against these politicians’ favors, with most teens not knowing the significance that their vote carries in this election. This liberated generation holds more value in whatโ€™s reflected by the candidates themselves, almost dumbfounded by the irregularity displayed in this current presidential race. To put this into perspective to younger people like me, let me guide you through the recent news, and approach it from a logical, solution oriented perspective.

Most people at 81, such as Biden, do not face harsh verbal diatribes from strangers and political opponents harping on your downfall, with every word and move being watched under the judging eye of the country. It is then understandable that this said 81-year-old, would start to make small errors underneath the pressure put upon him considering his actions may lead to the future state of the nation. It has caused some to build empathy considering his age, but how far can that grace be extended when so much is on the line?

The country is concerned. In light of recent events, 19 Democratic leaders and law-makers have urged President Joe Biden to step down from this upcoming election, reflecting the uncertainty of many Americans.

House member Lloyd Doggett stated on July 2nd that he was โ€œHopeful that Mr. Biden will make the painful and difficult decision to withdraw.โ€ The following day, Raul Grijalva explained to the New York Times that โ€œWhat Mr. Biden needs to do is shoulder the responsibility for keeping that seat, and part of that responsibility is to get out of this race.โ€ On July 5th, Mike Quigley hopped on the bandwagon, along with Selth Moulton of Massachusetts not far after, then Angie Craig of Minnesota, Adam Smith of Washington, and so on until all 19 had cultivated one collective message. Day after day, more people seem to be joining this united voice. They want him to bow out gracefully to give someone else a fighting chance for the Democratic party.

According to Fox News, in a pre-taped interview that aired on Wednesday night, Biden told BET News host Ed Gordan that he’d reconsider staying in the race, “If I had some medical condition that emerged, if somebody, if doctors came to me and said, you got this problem and that problem.”

Everyone is waiting to see if Biden will step down. If he does, the even bigger question that will need to be answered is who is the strong enough candidate to take his place? Guess we will all have to stay tuned.
