Over the weekend Kenwood Academy took home the championship in the Chicago Public League freeing themselves from their second place reputation. Thursday the 13th was the final four showdown meaning that there were four teams playing and two of them would move on to the championship game.

First game in the final four was Curie vs Hyde Park with Curie beating Hyde Park 51- 43. Curie is no stranger to the final four as they are the defending champs, so I expected Curie to win this and have a shot at the trophy.

The second game was between Kenwood and Whitney Young with Kenwood winning 64 – 55. Kenwood has been absolutely hooping this season making them my favorite team to watch. No shade, but Whitney Young on the other, has been a tad disappointing this season.
So Curie and Kenwood made it to the championship game on Saturday the 15th, giving us an epic rematch. Curie beat Kenwood last year, but this year Kenwood played with passion as they overcame Curie in the best high school game Iโve ever seen.

Kenwood beat Curie 67 – 65 in a nailbiter of a game. The crowd was packed with passionate fans, parents and students alike. Kenwood fans went crazy seeing their team win their first city title, ridding themselves as a second place team. The players went even crazier jumping and screaming their way to the locker room.

This was a very dope game to end the season off on as Kenwood got their well deserved title in a very entertaining game. Covering these high school basketball games has been dope this season because these players are seriously talented.
