Give Your Room A Makeover

It’s a new year and giving your room a makeover shouldn’t be regrettable. Your room is your safe space, how it’s decorated can affect your mood and performance. It’s simple. If your room is dark with dark colors and imagery…that’s exactly how you will feel.

Let’s say this new year you want to give your room some change. More light, more plants, more Feng Shui. If you don’t know what Feng Shui is, let me clarify this style is to minimize the chaos in any room. Simply how you arrange your furniture or change the color scheme into soothing tones is how you achieve Feng Shui. The Chinese words “feng” meaning wind and “shui” meaning water connect the concept of human life being connected to and flowing with the environment around it according to the spruce.

This basically means arranging pieces in living spaces to create balance with the natural world. A prime example is lighting. If you have a window in your room select curtains that are sheer to bring in natural light or bright colors to compliment natural lighting. To achieve Feng Shui is to minimize all clutter, not everything has to be close together. Try your best to make your room feel as open as possible. Then, utilize your commanding position, this is where you’ll be most of the time. The commanding position is the spot in your room that is farthest from the door and not in direct line with it. Most people have this as their bed area. It’s the process of making a room have symmetry.

Feng Shui has a lot of analogical connections to it, but what I take away from the style is fulfilling a room with natural energy. Anyone can do this by adding more plants, organizing, donating what is not being used, and making your place a sanctuary. Incorporating trendy styles with a minimalistic touch will surely spruce up a room. Let 2024 be all about positive growth and changing your living space is in alignment with that.
