Thinking Outside The Box

Meet Kimberly: Model, Photographer, And Editor

The amount of pressure aspiring models are under is unimaginable. Going to agency after agency to find a company to represent you and get you jobs is reason enough for many young models to quit. Not only that, but finding the resources to build your portfolio is extremely difficult, too. Think about it. Any good photographer will charge you $200 plus for a set of five photos and if you are thinking about doing an outfit changeโ€ฆforget it! Before you know it you’ve spent $600-700 for three pictures! This is one reason why many aspiring models donโ€™t continue to pursue their careers.

Portfolios are a HUGE part of a modelโ€™s career and when booking jobs employers are looking for photos that stand out. One young lady made it her business to make sure she did just that.

Meet Kimberly. I came across her Twitter page after seeing her talk about how she could not afford a photographer, so she decided to be her own photographer. I was so amazed to see these insanely beautiful self-shot photos. I soon found her Instagram account and thatโ€™s when I realized I had only scratched the surface of what she was capable of. Kimberly has created 75 photo shoots and edited every last picture by herself! She is truly a triple threat. I love creating and I love saving money while doing so, and seeing her create all these amazing shots has truly inspired me. It also shows that money should never stop your from following your dreams. If you truly want it you will find out a way to make your dreams come true.

Have you ever heard the saying there is more then one way to skin a cat? That simply means that there is more than one way to achieve an end goal. I want to encourage other models and other creatives that you have to think outside the box, but it will achieve the same goal!

Please check out more of Kimberlyโ€™s work below!

I rep the 219, Indiana. I'm a wardrobe stylist and owner of Vintage By. B. I love shopping for pieces that are different and that I know nobody else will have! But one thing I hate about shopping is going broke doing so. Throughout the years of me working in retail, I have picked up a lot of tips and tricks for saving LOTS of money when shopping. I also go against trends by Vintage shopping. I find pieces that I can pair together to create works of art. You can call me a penny pincher, but I'll look BOMB while pinching my pennies :)
