In the middle of watching the Celtics play the Miami Heat yesterday, I stopped mid-sentence of talking mess when I received this SportsCenter alert on my phone.
Celtics fans stopped breathing again after what we all believed to be a day to day injury – a hyperextended knee – turned into a potentially career, but definitely season ending injury of a torn ACL. Yes, it’s official… and you’ve now been informed that Rondo is out for the season. Rondo’s injury took place late in the Celtics’ 123-111 double-overtime loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night in which he had his fifth triple-double of the season and second in two nights with 18 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds.
Does this mean that services for the Celtics’ season should be arranged? Or does their win against the defending Champions prove that they have what it takes to survive without their leader and point guard, much like the Chicago Bulls?
To the die-hard Rondo and Celtics’ fans out there, may your lucky green clover come through and the odds so ever be in your favor!
