The president of the University of Missouri, Tim Wolfe, resigned today, immediately after escalating protests over racist and other bias-related incidents on campus.

This came in support of the Missouri Students Association, which represents the school’s undergraduates, formally called for Wolfe’s removal, with a letter decrying the administration’s silence after the 2014 shooting of Michael Brown, a black man, by a police officer in Ferguson, Mo., and charging that Wolfe had “enabled a system of racism” on the Columbia campus and had failed the students.

Over the weekend the players on the Missouri football team agreed to stop participating in football activities until university system president Tim Wolfe resigned.

"The athletes of color on the University of Missouri football team truly believe 'Injustice Anywhere is a threat to Justice Everywhere,'" the tweet read. "We will no longer participate in any football related activities until President Tim Wolfe resigns or is removed due to his negligence toward marginalized students' experiences. WE ARE UNITED!!!!!"
