‘Spider-Man 2’ Game is Worth the Hype

The “Spider-Man” games just keep getting better and better.

Released October 20th, “Spider-Man 2” continues Insomniac (the developers)’s Playstation legacy. Following Peter Parker and Miles Morales, the player FINALLY gets to play as both Spider-Men! With “Spider-Man” and “Spider-Man: Miles Morales” leading up to it, the hype has only gotten bigger as both of them get targeted by their fiercest villain yet: Kraven the Hunter.

Not only is he there, but also Venom, the alien parasite that’s probably one of the most iconic of Spider-Man’s villain rogue’s gallery. With him fusing with Peter, as we’ve seen from trailers for the game, the player gets unique new  powers.

But you don’t need an evil, body-snatching alien to experience something new. There are dozens of new suits in the game, including some from the “Spider-Verse” movies. On top of that, the player gets new glider suits to fly around the expanded New York City map, having added Queens and Brooklyn.

Right off the bat, the game makes it clear that it’s all about healing. Peter is getting over his Aunt May’s death, renovating her old house with MJ, and getting a job as a teacher at Mile’s high school. Miles is working hard on moving past his dad’s death at the hands of Mr. Negative, the villain from the previous game, and his mom is finally moving on.

But there wouldn’t be much of a game without problems. Kraven and Venom are coming, and they’re angry.

“Spider-Man 2” takes what makes the games before and pumps it up to a thousand. Right off the bat, you fight a boss half the size of the Empire State. Getting to play as Miles is a huge bonus, too. His electrical powers make him MILES better than Peter against enemies.

Insomniac is developing more Marvel games. A game about Wolverine is set to release in fall 2024-2025. Keep an eye out for more bangers from the devs.
